An urgent call to form a united front to uproot fascism in Ethiopia and Eritrea!

What we see today in Ethiopia is unbelievable and unacceptable in 21st century. A population of 7 million in Tigray Regional State is under siege.  Since about 15 months, the governments of Eritrea and Ethiopia are waging war against Tigray Regional State. Somalia and UAE have also been involved.  In Tigray, there is no internet and telecommunication service. The banks have been closed and there is no money circulating for shopping or markets to run.

The self-appointed PM of Ethiopia has declared war on Tigray Regional State on 4th November 2021. TPLF, the ruling party in Tigray Regional State refused to join the new Prosperity Party and held election in Tigray. TPLF was elected by the people of Tigray and a government was formed that has been running the region. However, Abiy Ahmed started blocking investors from going to Tigray. Now Tigray regional State is in full siege with no telephone, bank services, internet and flights. There are no buses coming to or going from Tigray. Of course there is some form of transport connecting the towns of Tigray.

Ethiopian and Eritrean troops invaded Tigray and the regional government had to flee to rural areas. TDF (Tigray Defense Forces) waged battles against Ethiopian and Eritrean troops with astonishing  outcome, favoring TDF. The troops of Abiy Ahmed and Issayas Afeworqi were forced to leave the region. The regional government took over the administration of Tigray. TDF marched to south Ethiopia  and was in Debre Birhan Town. For reason not clearly known,  TDF made a tactical withdrawal and are now stationed in Tigray defending Tigray from attacks of Ethiopian and Eritrean troops.

Abiy Ahmed's government has been waging wars in South Ethiopia against the Oromo and other ethnic groups. Eritrean troops were also involved in these wars of destruction. Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) has liberated many towns from the troops of Abiy Ahmed and Issayas Afeworqi, Eritrea's president for Life.  Atrocities against the Oromo people by Abiy Ahmed and Issayas troops have been reported.

Needless to say that Ethiopia needs a government that protects it's citizens.  TPLF (Tigray People,s Liberation Front) and OLF ( Oromo Liberation Front) have been reportedly coordinating the struggle to establish a democratic government in Ethiopia. Other political groups have also shown their interest to work with TPLF and OLF. It is high time that a united front of all political groups is formed to co-ordinate the struggle for democracy in Ethiopia.
